In this article, I have described How To Calculate Volume of Trapezoidal Footing? with an example. Before described it Let us know about trapezoidal footing. A Trapezoidal Footing is a type of foundation used in construction. It has a shape similar to a Trapezoid, with a wider base at the bottom and a narrower top. This design helps spread the load from a building or structure over a larger area, providing better stability and support on the ground. It’s commonly used where the soil has varying strength or where a large base is needed to support heavy loads.
How To Calculate Volume of Trapezoidal Footing?
Trapezoidal Volume Calculation Formula
Below the formula is used to calculate the volume of the trapezoidal footing.
V= h/3(A1+A2+(√A1xA2)
Where
A1= Area of lower portion of Trapezoidal Footing.
A2= Area of upper portion of Trapezoidal Footing.
h= Height of Trapezoidal portion.
For Example Trapezoidal Footing Calculation
Refer below the diagram. Now we are going to calculate the volume of the trapezoidal footing.
Volume= h/3(A1+A2+(√A1xA2)
First of all we will calculate A1 and A2
A1= Length of lower portion X width of lower portion
A1= 3X2= 6 sqm
A2= Length of upper portion X width of upper portion
A2= 0.600X0.500= 0.3 sqm
h= .300
Put the value of A1,A2 and H in formula
Volume= 0.300/3(6+0.3+(√6×0.3)
Volume= 0.100(6.3+1.34)
Volume= 0.100×7.64
Volume(v)= 0.764 m3
Total volume of Trapezoidal Footing is
Volume= cuboid+truncated pyramid
Cuboid volume = Length of lower portion X width of lower portion X height of cuboid
Cuboid volume= 3mX2mX0.3
Cuboid volume= 1.8 cubic metre
Cuboid+truncated pyramid= 0.764+1.8
V= 2.564 cubic metre.
